Nokia sleeping Screen

Nokia Beta labs always come with awesome apps, and this time they introduce an experimental beta app called Nokia Sleeping Screen. With this app the appearance of your phone is enhanced with always-on decorative graphics, status indications at a glance, and a calm nighttime clock.
You may think it is the next simple app, but when you download and install it, you phone will stand out in the crowd. Don’t think the Nokia Sleeping Screen is only for beauty, since  is very useful, too: It will give you the opportunity to see missed calls, unread text messages and reminders.
The application is available for Symbian^3-powered smartphones like C6-01C7-00N8, and E7-00, plus it was verified on the latest version of Symbian and is capable of working with the latest Qt versions 4.6.4 and 4.7.2.
Features:
  • Personalization;
  • Time & date always visible;
  • Rich visual notifications of missed calls, SMS, and calendar events;
  • Night clock mode setting to dim the appearance for night period;
  • Very clear battery charging indication with animation;
  • Low power consumption, decreased even further by turning the screen off when the phone is covered, for example, in a bag or in your pocket.
Known issues
  • Torch-light feature doesn’t work when Nokia Sleeping Screen is active.
Watch the video below to find out how good it looks, and if you want to download it, first sign into your Nokia Account to access the file.

The world’s first touch screen

When do you think touchscreen technology was invented? 10 years ago, or perhaps 20? Try 40 years ago. Yep, way back in 1971, the first “Touch Sensor” was developed by Doctor Sam Hurst while he was an instructor at the University of Kentucky. In 1977, his company Elographics developed and patented five-wire resistive technology, the most popular touchscreen technology in use today.

The first Nokia touchscreen device

Touchscreens on smartphones have only really been popular for the last couple of years. So it may come as a surprise to discover that Nokia launched its first touch screen phone, the Nokia 7710 back in 2004. Its lack of keypad meant you used handwriting recognition or a stylus. One of its most innovative features at time was the ability to let you scribble a handwritten note and send it off to someone via MMS.

Behind the scenes of The Commuter (Film shot entirely on Nokia N8)

This post follows the last post on the movie made from a Nokia N8 entirely.

Ever wondered how it will look like shooting a film with phones? Imagine - Two three cameramen just holding some phones around actors. See below for the behind the scenes photos from the movie.

Following is the video by Nokia about the making.

New Office Document editing feature comes up with Nokia N8-00

Earlier Nokia N8-00 supported only  the document viewing option. Document editing was unable to be done. But now the latest software version 013.016 has come up with Quick Office 6.4 with enabled editing and zoom in-out capabilities in Office documents. What you need to do is to upgrade your phones’ firmware in to latest version which I mentioned above.
